Hand Washing and Covid-19
We all have been told that washing your hands regularly is one of the most important things you can do other than wearing a mask to prevent the spread of COVID-19. While this preventative step is critical, frequent handwashing can cause your hands to dry out, and crack, especially if you use an abrasive soap. Here are some suggestions to help you take care for your hands, not only during COVID-19, but as a traditional care method that will produce long-term benefits:
Washing Your Hands
- Wet your hands thorough with water and add enough soap to cover your hands and wrist.
- Rub the soap and water mixture around your palms in a circular motion.
- Use your palm to cover the back of your hands with soap and water.
- With your hands interlaced, go back and forth to cover in between your fingers with soap and water.
- Place your fingertips in the palm of your hands (interlocked) and rub back and forth.
- Clasp your thumbs together with your opposite hand using a rotational motion.
- Grab your wrist with the opposite hand using a rotational motion and cleanse with soap and water.
- Use a dry towel to turn on the water, place your hands under the running water and rinse your hands with clean water.
- Thoroughly dry your hands with a separate towel.
